Vertical paper bag mini album featuring Kaisercraft Telegraph Road papers

Hello there, friends!
I haven't been able to craft as much as I would like to, for a while now. Life (and work, of course!) just has been more attention-seeking than usual--that is all. But, on the bright side, I was able to photograph and film a few older projects which have been lying in my bookshelf since last year. Here is one of my favorites!

This goes back to when I was besotted with Kaisercraft and believed it to be the bee's knees! It is...but so is Prima. LOL :D What drew me to Telegraph Road is obviously the postal theme--I am a lover of age-old national postal services across the world and though much of our stuff gets stuck in customs, nothing beats the centuries of stories and romance that surround traditional mail. So there--this collection just had to be mine. I had also managed to get hold of brown paper lunch bags which Kavitha of BitsnPieces was nice enough to import--so there was little to stop me from following Ginger's Vertical Paper Bag Mini Album Tutorial in which she does a fabulous job (as always) of showing us how to make a chunky, big mini album using 6 paper bags and some cardstock.

I was running low on craft colored cardstock (I am not sure why they are more difficult to find than black or white cardstock, at least in India) so I crossed my fingers and used black for the outer chipboard cover. I think it worked!

All the pages are built the same way--they are all top-loading pocket pages with a flip-out to the right. I made large craft tags for each pocket, meant to hold photos on both sides.

Let's look at the pages:

While I am thrilled about how I managed to create this mini using only 12 sheets of pattern paper, I wish I had more paper and embellishments (The collectibles pack I order online never reached.). It is very unlike me to leave any surface bare and you will see me doing that in this album. I was also tiring of the patterns after a point--I underestimated the time and inspiration it takes to create an album of this size.

The reverse of each page has an on-the-page pocket--this is actually the gusset of the paper bag, folded up. I would have created tiny booklets to go here, but I ran out of craft cardstock :(

I could not bear to cover that postcard collage paper (with the quaint stamps! <3)--skipped the photo mats for this page and created a corner pocket which can hold a loose tag for photos, instead.

I inked all the pages using Ranger's Walnut Stain distress ink.

I created a couple coin envelopes out of pink cardstock and design paper.

The back inside cover:
I love making envelopes and this collection was crying for one! Made this envelope with a magnetic closure and used up the last of the design paper in the waterfall feature.

And that's the back!

I am sending this beauty over to the Lulupu May 2016 Challenge #61. The theme is "mini albums"! Now, how could I let that pass ;) Hop on over to the Lulupu blog to browse the amazing entries!

  1. What a beautiful paper line and lovely mini album dripping nostalgia from every page. The relatively clean look is refreshing in a way, though I wonder what the embellishments that never arrived would have looked like, too.

    1. Ohh! I so badly wanted those pieces, Neha! They were stuck in customs--until I gave up waiting and started with the album. Glad you liked this relatively spartan look too :D I absolutely loved how nostalgic this paper made me. Thanks so much for stopping by xoxo
