"Wedded Bliss" ornate wedding mini album in a box

Prima Something Blue is back--bigger and chunkier!

My project share for today is the second Prima Something Blue (PSB) album and a box I made for the album to sit in. This was a wedding present for a coworker, that I completed in February 2016. I have talked about the paper collection endlessly in my previous Prima Something Blue post so I will let the pictures do the talking this time! :D

Here is the box--I made this out of an A0 sheet of mount board that I picked up at a local school supplies store. [Note to self: Buy a board of higher weight for future box-making projects.] The box feels sturdy on its own, but with the heavy mini album inside it, I am worried about the bottom sagging under strain.

And here is the album--I wish it did not gape the way it does. I went a wee bit overboard with the embellishments. The binding style I have used until now has worked great with other albums but could not accommodate the chunky embellishments we have here. I am switching to a different binding style for future projects--preferably one with a 1/2 or a 3/4 inch gusset between pages. Also, I am kinda tiring of these pocket pages that straddle the spine--the next album will have chipboard pages! Pocket pages are amazing, but I need a break :D I want to have a skeleton book to work on--it may just help prevent crafters' block (if that is even a thing) :D.

The spine:

How I love chunky charm dangles--this one has a world of goodies: from cabochons with wedding themed sentiments to dresses, wedding cakes, purses, perfume bottles, a hand-fan and so forth!

Now on to the pages:

Pages 2~3

I am really proud of the ribbons--they were custom-dyed for this paper line at Premier Ribbons, Mumbai. Find them on FB! :) The next time though, I might hop on over to my nearest fabric dyer because ordering these online were a bit of a challenge--of the five colors I ordered, only three matched the papers. The pink and the blue proved tricky to match.

The back inside cover: handmade organza ribbon roses, some bling, and black Venetian lace

And that is all for the pages.
I have to admit, this was my most time- and resource-intensive project to date. It was quite the labor of love--as it was meant to be a special gift. And, I did have to battle a kind of exhaustion with the paper line--Something Blue is adorable but two wedding minis back to back using the same papers left me feeling burnt out. Of course, once the project was completed, I forgot the months of agonizing over color coordination, page styles, flaps and inserts, etc.--and I stared dreamily at the box and the album cover.

    1. Thank you so much for stopping to comment, Snowflakes and Lilies! Means a whole lot!! <3
I used American Crafts 216gsm/80lb textured black cardstock for this album--it is a medium weight cardstock which I find flexible enough for complex page builds and sturdy enough for holding shape.
